Anton and Karl meet up again at the tail end of WWII, each of them having experienced their own horrors of war. Anton’s faith is tested and Karl, despite torture and abuse at the hands of the Nazis, still keeps his faith. I really liked how the author presented this juxtaposition, evoking the time and giving us two well thought out characters. And in a short story.
