Oh my freaking lord. BDSM supreme. This has got to be one of the best written, freakiest, dirtiest, kinkiest reads around. Thank you Heidi Cullinan. Oh... and a very good romance too :-)
Nowhere Ranch brings together 25 year old Monroe, a lonely, soul-stripped drifter with an unquenchable thirst for submission and rough sex and Travis, the ranch owner he works for and comes to trust and love. Amazing Travis. Travis, previously a math professor, now cowboy-dominant extraordinaire, who knows just what Monroe needs and how to give it to him. A wolf in sheep’s clothing if ever there was one. Their story is written with such lovely, tight restraint and refinement that it leaves me breathless, literally...
I say this because I’d almost given up on this author after reading some of her other work. The Seventh Veil and A Private Gentleman in particular -- large, ambitious, stories with such promise but so much going on that they seemed confused, bloated, and overwritten to me. But this romance has brought me back into the fold. I guess Cullinan’s contemporaries just work better for me (loved Special Delivery and Double Blind too).
I have to mention one little quibble that just won’t leave me...after an evening of extreme sex which includes fisting, Monroe goes traipsing through the woods with Travis the next morning? After a long truck ride? Huh-uh, I don’t think so! Still, I simply ate this story up. I loved how Monroe tried to lose himself at nowhere and ended up finding somewhere for a home.
